Bahrain plans a long-term hangar agreement to support Texel Air's aviation operations.

Bahrain Airport Company is progressing an 11-year extension of Texel Air’s hangar agreement at Bahrain International Airport. The proposed extension would give the aviation company a long-term base for further investment and business growth.

The announcement came during the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum 2026 in Manama on 1 and 2 November.

The agreement could support Bahrain’s plans to expand its aviation, aircraft maintenance and air cargo sectors.

Texel Air plans further investment in Bahrain

Texel Air is a Bahrain-based aviation company and a subsidiary of Chisholm Enterprises.

The company operates aircraft maintenance, cargo and private aviation services. It acquired its twin-bay hangar facility at Bahrain International Airport in 2025.

Since then, Texel Air has invested in upgrading the facility’s infrastructure and services.

The planned agreement extension would give the company more confidence to develop its operations and invest in additional facilities.

More hangar capacity and maintenance services planned

George Chisholm, Chief Executive Officer of Chisholm Enterprises, said the proposed 11-year extension would support the company’s next stage of investment.

He also highlighted plans to increase hangar capacity and bring more aircraft maintenance, charter and cargo activity to Bahrain.

These services form an important part of the aviation industry.

Aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul services help airlines and aircraft operators maintain their fleets. They also create demand for engineering skills, specialist equipment and technical support.

Bahrain Airport Company supports aviation investment

Bahrain Airport Company operates and manages Bahrain International Airport.

Its proposed extension with Texel Air reflects efforts to support long-term investment by aviation businesses.

Ahmed Janahi, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Airport Company, said long-term partnerships give companies greater confidence to plan and expand.

He added that the proposed agreement could strengthen the airport’s aviation services and support higher-value economic activity.

Air cargo and aircraft services remain important

Air cargo plays an important role in regional and international trade.

Companies need reliable aircraft, maintenance facilities and airport infrastructure to move goods across markets.

Bahrain aims to strengthen its position in this sector by supporting aviation companies and improving airport services.

Texel Air’s activities could contribute to this effort through cargo operations, aircraft maintenance and private aviation services.

What the proposed extension means

The planned 11-year extension would give Texel Air a longer-term operating base at Bahrain International Airport.

It could also support additional investment in hangar facilities and related services.

However, Bahrain Airport Company has described the extension as being in progress. The announcement does not confirm that the final agreement has been signed.

The next stage will depend on the completion of the agreement and the company’s investment plans.

The development highlights Bahrain’s continued effort to attract aviation businesses and strengthen its role in regional air cargo and maintenance services.
